About our office and process  

In 1996, following a decade of running the citywide eviction defense center in San Francisco, Cathy Mosbrucker and Mary Jane Foran went into private practice in an office located in San Francisco’s historic Flood Building.

Their housing law practice is completely devoted to representing San Francisco Bay Area tenants in disputes with their current and former landlords. They do not represent landlords! The law firm of Mosbrucker & Foran specializes in lawsuits involving wrongful evictions, Costa-Hawkins disputes and other excessive rent increases, illegal rental units, landlord harassment, and substandard living conditions. In addition, we represent tenants facing capital improvement evictions, working to ensure that the displacement is temporary.

Because both Cathy and Mary have extensive experience working for non-profit agencies, they do everything in their power to minimize the costs of litigation for their clients while providing those clients with first class representation.

Mosbrucker & Foran is a boutique, two-woman law firm. Cathy and Mary are the only lawyers who will work on their clients’ cases. Clients who hire Cathy and Mary don’t have to worry that their case will be passed on to a young, inexperienced lawyer after they hire the firm. When tenants hire Mosbrucker & Foran they get two lawyers for the price of one. Cathy and Mary work on all of their cases collaboratively meaning they discuss strategy and review each others’ work. Whenever possible both attend client meetings, depositions, mediations and other Court appearances.
